The past 24 hours have been decidedly intense.
On Monday, I received an email newsletter from GlimmerTrain reminding me of some of their upcoming deadlines. One of them was for an upcoming issue they’ve titled “Family Matters.”
I have received this information before, but for whatever reasons, I ignored it and deleted it. Not so this time. It suddenly struck me that I had a story that was a perfect fit for the issue: my memoir in progress, Digging Holes In A Lake. They wanted fiction, and I knew I could fictionalize sections of it.
And so that’s what I’ve spent the past, passion-driven 24 hours doing. Fictionalizing. And rewriting. Task completed late yesterday. It’s now sitting with several of my writer friends, awaiting their perusal and input.
The submission deadline is April 30th. Since I placed as a finalist with my previous entry to GlimmerTrain, I feel called to submit this story, titled Where To Stand In A War.
I am very optimistic about this one.
