Yes, I’m a bit behind on this post for the season. I’ve managed to stay above the vicious fray that develops every year ’round about January, and that proceeds into the spring months.
What am I talking about?
Why, American Idol, of course.
Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile know that the show is one of my guilty pleasures. This season, however, I’ve found myself with no time to spend watching, though I’ve been following vicariously through the news and others’ blogs.
Each year, I announce my pick for the winner, and invariably, each year I’m off by one. Sometimes more than one. I chose Blake Lewis last year over Jordin Sparks. The year before, I picked Chris Daughtry over Taylor Hicks. Maybe it’s a good thing I’m not voting, as I’m picking from purely personal ideals and not trying to think like an entire country of teens and tweens.
In spite of my inability to follow the show each week live, I have already decided on my pick for this year’s Idol.
I have been following David Archuleta’s career since he was nine years old and appeared on Star Search with Arsenio Hall. Besides having an incredible singing voice, he is personable, truly a gentle soul, is the most genuine, and very, very talented.
As much as I hate to agree with Simon Cowell, David is my official pick for this year’s Idol.
I only hope I have not jinxed him!
