Doin’ My Snoopy Dance

This has been one helluva month already, and it’s barely into the second week. If you’ve read some of the more recent posts here, you’re already aware of the petty drama being played out within my community, which can’t help but affect me personally in some ways. However, as this particular drama is so ridiculous, and can’t touch some of the drama my former family put me through over thirty-some years, I’ve been able to maintain most of my equilibrium throughout the ordeal. And luckily, the Train Wreck has moved away. Perhaps things can resume some semblance of normalcy on that front.

In other dramatic news, I received confirmation on Friday that several of my poems have been accepted for publication by Blue Mountain Arts, one of the globe’s biggest greeting card and gift book publishers. One would not think that six lines of prose would garner such a big paycheck. I was very excited to see that in the contract they sent along.

I didn’t realize that I was so emotionally attached to the outcome of this particular group of submissions, but apparently I was, for Snoopy had nothing over me when I got the packet in the mail Friday afternoon. My happy dance made his look like mere ants in the pants. Too bad for you that I didn’t take pictures of that particular celebratory workout!

In addition, I received word that an associate editor position I had applied for with a pretty prestigious Writer’s Organization (which must remain nameless until I’ve signed with them) has moved a step closer to realization. I got a letter from the Editor in Chief yesterday, requesting a second interview. My fingers, and several other body parts, are crossed in anticipation.

And, as if all that weren’t enough, Greg over at A Life In The Day has given some personal recognition to my blog, which will fit nicely on the mental trophy shelf I carry around with me, and which holds the nomination that Shannon offered recently. Being recognized by one’s peers is incredibly heart-warming, and I thank both Shannon and Greg, as well as everyone who reads this blog — lurkers and visibles alike.

In the meantime, it’s time to write some more poetry!
