Oh Deer!

The middle of nowhere.
Also known as Baggs, Wyoming. Not to disparage the good, if simple, folk of this miniscule town, for they do have a Subway store and a SuperKMart (which sells cowboy hats and chaps, I kid you not). All they need is a Starbucks to make it a teeming metropolis.
Not.
That is, of course, unless you count deer as “population.” Because they’re everywhere. Daytime, nighttime…it doesn’t matter. There are deer. The dogs, who have gone on this trip with me, have been running like the devil himself is after them, trying to vacuum up all the wonderful scents they’ve found on the ground, trees, fences…everywhere the deer have been. Ozzie got into an altercation with a barbed wire fence this morning, hurtling as he was in blind passion after some scent that just had to be chased. After my initial panic (tetanus anyone?), I discovered that he wasn’t injured at all.
One thing about the deer here is that they’re are not timid. They stand their ground even when both my dogs face off with them. My dogs are not by any means aggressive…just hyper-curious. So if the deer doesn’t run away, the pups don’t know what to do, so they all stand there and stare at each other.
Deer never blink first. This I’ve learned.
I’m here on business with my job, which details shall remain a mystery, as it bores me to think about and I can’t imagine putting you to sleep with such information. Unless you read my blog to fall asleep, in which case email me and I’ll happily provide the details.
Thankfully, we’re out of here tomorrow morning and back home. Just in time. My brain was beginning to deteriorate.

Deer never blink first! Ha, funny. Have a safe trip home.
Thank you, Shannon! Just the word “home” sounds delicious right now. I’ve never seen so many truckers and cowboys in one place in my life…and it kinda frightens me. :~)
Why did work send you to Wyoming in the first place? And are you stopping by the SuperK to pick up a pair of those chaps?
Greg~ Why yes, I did pick up a pair of them thar chaps. Cow patterned. I like to wear them around town with nuthin but my nekkid self underneath. They’re quite fetching.
